Botox injections are the newest FDA approved treatment for chronic migraine. Chronic migraine is defined as more than 15 days in a month with the headache lasting 4 hours a day or longer. Chronic migraine is an extremely debilitating condition, often rendering the sufferer unemployable.

The FDA approved protocol requires 155 units of Botox injected into 31 specific sites in the head and neck. Studies leading to the FDA approval showed statistically significant reductions in the total number of headaches per month and in the number of hours each headache lasted.
