What is a neurologist?
A neurologist is a medical doctor (M.D.) who has undergone specialty training in diseases or injuries involving the brain, spinal cord, nerve and muscle through an accredited teaching program.

What is a board-certified neurologist?
A board-certified neurologist is a neurologist that has taken and passed the Certification exam offered by the American Academy of Psychiatry and Neurology. The certification attests that the neurologist is not only competent to practice neurology but has achieved a high level of competence in the practice of neurology.

Do I need an appointment to be seen?
Yes. All new patients require a one hour visit in which to conduct an adequate history and physical exam. In order to provide adequate time, all appointments must be scheduled.

Do I need a referral to obtain an appointment?
In most cases, a referral is not necessary. However, some health plans require a referral for all specialty services. To be safe, check with your health plan to see if a referral is required.
